As Principal of Ardscoil Rís it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our brand new website which I hope will provide you with a flavour of life here in our school.
A holistic education is the core principle of life here in Ardscoil Rís, Limerick where the highest of academic expectations are balanced with a broad co- and extra-curricular programme for our students.
An Edmund Rice Schools Trust (ERST) School
As befits a Christian Brothers’ school, under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust (ERST), a strong Christian ethos is central to life here in Ardscoil Rís. We strive to have the values of the Edmund Rice tradition fully realised in our students, as they journey towards independence and finding their place in society as fully-rounded young men.
We do this in partnership with our parents/guardians where we acknowledge the role of parents/guardians as the primary educators of their sons. We find it a great privilege that so many parents/guardians entrust their sons’ education to us.
Blessed Edmund Rice Prayer
O God, we thank you for the life of Blessed Edmund Rice.
He opened his heart to Christ present in those oppressed by poverty and injustice.
May we follow his example of faith and generosity.
Grant us the courage and compassion of Blessed Edmund Rice as we seek to live lives of love and service.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
The 41st word in the Prayer of Blessed Edmund Rice (above) is the word compassion. So much of what we strive to do in Ardscoil Rís is rooted in this word. It is a line in the Blessed Edmund Rice Prayer that resonates most with me.
“Grant us the courage and compassion of Blessed Edmund as we seek to live lives of love and service.”
